My free verse translation is as below
Enjoying Life, I sauntered along
All my worries, I just blew them away

So what if I failed, no time to regret
Got a kick out of failures, didn’t waste any time

The gifts of fate, I took in stride
Whatever I lost, just left them behind...

There are several verses in the Bhagavad Geeta which reference samatvam, equanimity (समत्वम्). The ones that I believe are closest to these soulful lyrics by the inimitable Mohammed Rafi with Dev Anand just gallivanting along... brings a song to anyone's heart.

यदृच्छालाभसन्तुष्टो द्वन्द्वातीतो विमत्सरः |
समः सिद्धावसिद्धौ च कृत्वापि न निबध्यते ||४-२२||
yadR^ichchhaalaabhasantushhTo dvandvaatiito vimatsaraH .

Content with what comes to him without effort, free from the pairs-of-opposites and envy, even-minded in success and failure, though acting he is not bound.

Constant even-mindedness on the attainment of the desirable or the undesirable.

Geeta Dhyānaṁ 2 - Vyāsā's Vast Intellect

January 7, 2013 Previously on Geeta Jayanti, I had posted on the eternal debt of gratitude to Mother Geeta that is the basis of Geeta Dhyānaṁ. I love Param Pujya Gurudev 's commentary on the Geeta Dhyānaṁ. August 9, 2012 Swamini Vimalanandaji has done a series of talks at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) called "406 SMS – Sure Mantras for Success from Bhagwad Geeta" (item 406 at this AMA link ). In this she has a very interesting take on the 1st line of the Bhagavad Geeta. धर्मक्षेत्रे कुरुक्षेत्रे १-१ dharmakShetre kurukShetre 1-1 <i> on the holy plain of Kurukshetra... </i> Swamini turns that slightly and says, क्षेत्रे क्षेत्रे धर्म कुरु - kShetre kShetre dharma kuru.
